Press On

I have never been more convinced that this life takes a good dose of endurance if you are going to thrive in it. As we see throughout Scripture, we will have trouble in this life (John 16:33). But our mission is to be as productive as we can be for the kingdom of God amidst all that trouble.

Loved ones will get sick.

Marriages will struggle.

People will betray us.

We will hurt, be tempted to worry, and bear many burdens in this world.

But we must press on.

As we see in John 15, we were meant to bear much fruit. But we cannot do it apart from Jesus. In John 15:5 Jesus tells us "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."

You were meant to bear much fruit.

The same Jesus who says in the very next chapter of John that we will have trouble, also tells us to bear much fruit. And, he tells us how we'll do it: by staying close to him, the one who has overcome the world (John 16:33).

Friends, today somebody out there needs to hear these words:

Stay close to Jesus and press on!

I have put a song below that finds itself on repeat in my car in those seasons that I need to be reminded to press on through the hardships of this world. Oh sweet friends, I pray it encourages your heart as it has mine so many times.

And sisters, in Jesus name...press on today! No matter what you are facing, stay close to Jesus and in his mighty, powerful, and all conquering name, press on!

Memorize this verse today:

"I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."
~Philippians 3:14
