Verse of the Day

"Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Here I am, Lord." And the Lord said to him, "Get up and go to the street called straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.""

What is Keeping You from Doing that Crazy Thing?

Has God ever called you to do something crazy? So crazy that those around you are pretty sure that you have lost your mind?

In Acts 9:10-16 we are introduced to a man by the name of Ananias. Earlier in Acts 9 we see that Saul from Tarsus meets Jesus on the road to Damascus, a road which was to lead him to persecute and execute Christians. In that encounter, Saul comes to know who Jesus is. And later, in verses 10-16, we see God telling Ananias to go and talk with Saul.

Now, that is pretty crazy if all the knowledge you have on Saul from Tarsus is that he is a persecutor and killer of Christians, of which you are one.

However, Ananias had fully surrendered his life to the Lord and was willing to be obedient even in this crazy thing. Ananias did not know what Saul would do when he got there. But the Lord had told him that Saul was a chosen instrument of His.

Ananias had to trust God and step out.

What holds us back from doing something crazy for God?

For many of us, it is probably fear, rejection, low self-esteem, lack of confidence, looking silly, falling flat on our face, just to name a few. There are things I know God is and has been calling me to and to be honest, it was not until the last few months that the Lord has given me the confidence and courage to step out and believe it.

For many of us, we spend so much time telling the Lord that there is someone else so much more qualified or we try to tell him that we do not want to sacrifice the time it would take to follow this crazy calling because we want to spend that time with our family.

They seem like good arguments right?

Wrong.

Because, truthfully, the Lord whispers into our ear and tells us to be obedient.

Period.

When we step out in faith and obedience and do the things that we KNOW God is calling us to, we will be blessed beyond what we ever could have imagined. All those arguments I mentioned we could have with the Lord are nothing because when we follow in obedience, the Lord stretches our time and equips us with exactly what we need to fulfill his call in our lives, no matter how crazy that calling might look.

If you are reading this today and you know in your spirit that the Lord is calling you to do something crazy, please allow me to encourage you today to surrender everything to the Lord and follow Him in obedience.

Do that crazy thing He is calling you to.

Don't sit on the sidelines of life and wonder what if I would have stepped out? I have learned that when we listen to the voice of God and step out into what might look crazy, it can impact people's lives for Him and isn't that what we desire? To lead others to Him?

My husband tells me all the time, "Live life with no regrets," and today I am saying that to you.

Live life with no regrets, and be radically obedient in this life He has given you.

Memorize this verse today:

"Now there was a disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and the Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias." And he said, "Here I am, Lord." And the Lord said to him, "Get up and go to the street called straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying.""
