Verse of the Day

"Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him."

Endurance on the Bad Days

Some days just require a little raw honesty from me to you all. On the off chance that someone feels discouraged out there today, let me just say, I feel ya!

Today was a crazy frustrating day. A Monday kind of Monday. In fact, you probably couldn't get a Monday-ier Monday! Nothing tragic, but a whole lot of frustrating. The kind of frustrating that leaves you wanting to throw in the towel on the day by 2pm.

Ever been there?

I don't know why I ask. I know you have. We all have!

The most frustrating element of the day happened around 4pm. And with the kids in the car with me, I decided that this is the type of day that calls for Mexican. When all else fails, just take your people out for some chips & salsa, a burrito, and some fried ice cream!

As I was driving home after Mexican, I realized I was closer to a new day than to the frustrations of the morning. And, I couldn't help but think of all of you out there who may have had a similarly frustrating day. And, my heart was burdened for the many of you who are having a harder day and season than I had today.

You see, overall, today was just frustrating. It wasn't really bad. In fact, today's frustrations were nothing compared to some seasons I've been through. Today was challenging, but it wasn't crushing. It was hard, but it wasn't horrifying.

I've had crushing days. I've had horrifying seasons.

Today was neither.

It was just a frustrating Monday. A day that made me pause tonight and pray for those of you truly going through crushing. Horrifying. Overwhelming.

And more than anything, I prayed for endurance for you.

For a dig-deep, soul-stirring, God-strong, endurance to persevere through your storm.

I don't know what some of you are going through, but I do know you do not go through it alone. I do know that God is right there and He will uphold you through every storm.

And you will overcome.

The enemy may be tempting you to feel discouragement or defeat, but sister, he will not have the last word.

No matter how hard your day, your week, or your season, you can endure for the joy that is before you. The joy that awaits you on the other side.

The only thing that got me through the frustrations of today was knowing that tomorrow is coming. Tomorrow, I get to sit with my sister and talk about Jesus as we prepare for Bible study. And there 'aint nothing like Jesus in our tomorrows to restore the brokenness of today.

Can I get an Amen?

As I close out tonight, let me encourage you to keep on fighting sister. Keep on swinging your Sword. Keep on believing. Better is coming. Joy is coming.

Jesus is coming!

I know that is true. No matter how bad today is.

And for now, I'm going to close out this day by watching a little basketball with my teenaged son. And I think I'll root for Villanova. I feel like cheering for the underdog tonight. After all, Jesus has cheered on this underdog many, many times before.

Much love and prayers to you all...keep on fighting strong out there sisters. Keep on believing. People need to see the fight that Jesus puts in us. The fight to persevere no matter what our days or our seasons currently look like!

And remember, joy is coming!

Memorize this verse today:

"Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him."
