It is just about to strike midnight. It is just about Christmas. Just a few more minutes and the day we celebrate our Savior's birth will be here.

My house is unusually quiet for Christmas Eve. Typically, on Christmas Eve, I am finishing up the wrapping and the kids are all piled into my son's room playing Xbox and planning what movies they'll watch as they stay up all night.

But tonight is different. I wrapped all the presents a few days ago and two of my three children have actually already fallen asleep. My husband is finishing up his wrapping in his office and the house is, well...quiet.

So quiet. Still.

A silent night, if you will.

Oh how I love stillness in the middle of a hurried season. There is so much peace and joy to be found in the stillness of the Christmas season.

I have had a few moments lately where the Lord has been ever so kind to overwhelm me with His presence in those still moments. Oh how I wish I could live every moment of my days overwhelmed by His glorious presence. I will someday. But, for now, I will be content with the glimpses of Him I get along the journey.

This evening, in the quiet of the night, I got one of those glimpses as I listened to a new favorite song of mine. When I heard it, I knew I just had to sit down and write quickly to all of you. To share it with you. It is at the end of this blog post for you to listen to as well. A beautiful reminder of how magnificent it is that the Savior of humanity has come. A song that brings me right into the presence of the Lord.

The light of the world given for us.

Jesus.

The only One who truly knows my heart and soul. The very One who created my heart and soul. The One who knows the deep hurts tucked secretly in the corners of my heart. The One who knows the quiet dreams He's placed in those same secret corners.

My Savior.

The One who knew every way I would ever sin in my life. Every failure I'd ever make. Every moment I'd turn from Him. And every single time my hand would hold the hammer that drove nails into His outstretched, love filled arms.

Nails that would pierce His body and hold Him to a cross.

My Savior.

The Creator and King of the Universe, who came to Earth from His glorious throne to be born in a lowly manger. Welcomed to Earth by no one except a couple willing to raise Him and do as the Lord directed.

Welcomed to the very Earth He created, but that also turned from Him.

Oh what a magnificent thing the Lord has done. Coming down to Earth. For you. And for me.

This Christmas, I pray you make wonderful memories with your family and friends. I pray the moments are slow and full of such love. But more than sweet moments with family and friends, I pray you each make time to have a few, still moments with Jesus. To reflect on what He has done. And what He gave up to do it.

There is no one who loves me more than Jesus. And the most spectacular thing is that His love is available to all. This Christmas, take time to experience His overwhelming and all fulfilling love. To sit quietly in His presence. And spend time with the One who came to Earth for you.

Come. And sit. And be overwhelmed with what God has done.
