God is Our God

As we walk through this life, we all struggle and we all sin and we all battle with our flesh. King David, who wrote today’s verses was known as a man after God’s own heart and yet, he struggled with the same things that we do. So why is he called a man after God’s own heart?

When we look at the life of David we see a man who did not live a perfect life. The books of I and II Samuel tell us about David’s life. David sinned. But what we see is a man who loved the Lord and tried very hard to please Him through his obedience but also through recognizing when to ask forgiveness.

How about you?

Earlier, I said that as we walk through this life, we all struggle and sin and we battle our flesh, just like David. Do we however recognize that we need to go before the Lord and ask his forgiveness when we sin and when our flesh wins?

David learned through the obedience of asking forgiveness that God loves him, forgives him and is ever before him. David knew this only because he fellowshipped with the Lord. He had a relationship with Him. When you read the scriptures and study David’s life you see without a doubt that he loved the Lord and desired deeply, above anything else, to honor Him. Are we like that? Do we live our lives in such a way that God knows he comes first, that there is nothing else in our lives that means more to us than Him?

Allow me to challenge you today to really look at your life and see if you are living a life of obedience. Many of us would love to say that we do. But if we really stop and look and ask those tough questions what will our answer really be? Do we do them because they make US feel comfortable and happy and maybe they’ll please God or are we doing these things because they are what God is asking us to do and will bring Him honor and glory? Sometimes doing the things that will honor God will bring us discomfort, but what we need to realize is that what is done for the Lord is what matters in this life.

I believe that when we recognize the joy that living a life of obedience brings us and are also in constant fellowship with Him, we will embrace and know without a doubt that God truly is before us in this life. He is full of love for us and because of His love, we should long to walk in His truth in every area of our lives.

Ladies, today take the time to really reflect on your relationship with the Lord and ask Him if you are living for Him in the way that is making a difference. Living for HIM brings such joy and contentment in life because we know that this isn’t all there is!

Memorize this verse today:

"For your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth."
~Psalm 26:3
