Don't Feel Alone
I feel so lonely. A house full of family, a church full of people and plenty of friends, yet I still have moments of feeling so lonely.
I am quite certain there are many of you reading this today who know exactly what I am saying. You are in a great marriage; you have children whom you adore. You have a great extended family and a church where you serve and minister. Yet there are moments where you are gripped with total loneliness. Maybe your husband and children on a particular day are involved in a variety of activities that take them from you. Your friends have their own families and are busy with their own lives. So what do you do?
This verse tells us that in those moments we can be assured that God is with us.
When we look at Jesus' life we see a man who was surrounded with people. He had his twelve disciples and his inner circle of friends. We see him throughout scripture spending time with those whom He loved. We see a glimpse into his life while in the garden praying before his betrayal and those closest to him couldn't even stay awake to pray for him in his greatest hour of need. Do you think He felt lonely? We see Jesus getting away on a number of occasions to pray to His father. Ladies, allow me to suggest that Jesus, when He felt his loneliest, went to the Father.
Jesus is our example. In those moments when we feel the loneliest, God is whom we need to turn to. He is the one who will never leave us; he will be with us always. You see, the people in our lives will let us down. They will be too busy and they will have responsibilities and activities that will draw them away from us. This is normal and we can't rely on them to fill up our lives with everything we need; only God can do that.
Today if you are reading this and are gripped with loneliness I want for you to look up the following verses and read them and take from them the promise that God is always here for us and will never leave us. He will bring us comfort when we are feeling lonely. Psalm 25:16, Psalm 27:10, Joshua 1:5, Psalm 139:1-2, Matthew 11:28 and Psalm 5:3. God's promise is that He will always be with us. So in those lonely moments when you think no one cares please remember that He does care and is there for you to lean into, to cry to, to talk to and to pray to. He loves you!
