God's Plan Will Prevail
Yesterday morning I woke up and opened my "Jesus Calling" devotional book and this was one of the verses used. Oh it stopped me in my tracks.
How many of us get up each day and plan out our days? We know what time the kids get on the bus and about what time we will shower and all the errands we will run and we attempt to schedule enough time to just maybe sit down and relax before the kids get off the bus and our busy evenings begin. Or how about our weekends? We have them all planned out to the hour. Our son is involved in baseball so Friday nights and Sunday afternoons are games. Sunday obviously we have our time at church morning and evening and hopefully squeeze in a nap (not). Saturdays are our days to catch up, clean house, yard work, run any errands that did not get run that week.
We have it all worked out.
What happens though when a kid gets sick, our husband gets called out, we get unexpected company and those things we thought we were going to get done do not?
If you are like me you just might have a tiny little tantrum, no one sees it (or maybe they do) but you have one inside your head.
We can take today's verse and apply it to so many areas of our lives. I have become so aware of how God is the one who orchestrates my day, my life, my plans, everything. I may have a plan, but what God wants is what will prevail. The secret I am learning is that we cannot throw even a tiny tantrum because the truth is those unexpected things that happen are God's appointments.
What happens when your child is sick? Well for me, it means some cuddle time. It means I get to take care of my child. I get to spend extra time with them caring for them. Mine are at an age that they don't sit still long enough for me to love on them. If my husband gets called away, I know it is because someone needs Him in their time of need so God is pleased and therefore I must be. For any of us, if unexpected company arrives, it gives us the opportunity to serve, love, encourage and anything else the Lord leads us to do for them.
I know that for many of us we love our plans. We love our schedules because they make us feel safe and organized, But I am learning that living this life for Jesus is unpredictable. He has a plan and it is so much better than any we could come up with.
Take today's verse and memorize it and when someone or something interrupts our day (so we think) just remember that God's plan and purpose will prevail. He has a reason for those interruptions in our days.
