"You will be a crown of splendor in the LORD's hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God."

For His Splendor
When we moved into our house, the first rooms we decorated and prepared were our kids' bedrooms. I have two daughters and one son and we spent time getting their rooms ready before any other room in the house. As I was decorating, I knew that I wanted to put something in their rooms that reminded them of how special they were and how much beauty and potential was inside of them. I wanted them to see words of affirmation each morning as they got ready for school or sports or playdates or someday, actual dates. I wanted them to feel loved and valued.
As I searched and searched, I found the perfect stencil for my daughters' rooms. And spanning the walls of both of their rooms, you will see the words:
You are sacred. You are treasured. You are beautiful. You are His.
Each morning as we get ready, they see those words and I pray that those stenciled words will penetrate their hearts. I pray that they will grow into teenagers and then adults who truly know how special they are.
Not just to me.
But to God.
I heard a song today that I just have to share with you. When I heard it for the first time today, I was just struck by the tenderness of the lyrics and the guitar. And, I was overwhelmed with the gentle reminder of how much God loves me and how much he has placed within me the potential to be beautiful for him. How the seed of his splendor is deep within each one of us just waiting to bloom in full view for all to see.
On the walls of each one of our hearts, it is as if he has written the very words that are on my daughters' bedroom wall: You are sacred. You are treasured. You are beautiful. You are Mine. And I want you to grow into a splendid display of Me. And I have placed in you the seed that can be watered and nourished to bloom into a magnificent display of My glory.
Oh dear friends, no matter where you are in your growth for him, your season is coming. A season where your past mistakes or trials or failures have faded and what remains is a stunning tree in full bloom displaying God's splendor, love, forgiveness, and grace.
With our roots deep in him, we can grow into a beautiful tree bearing fruit that displays his splendor. His glorious work in us.
Oh how I want my children to grow up strong and beautiful for God's splendor. And, as I listen to the words of this song, my heart sings the same wish for myself to my precious savior. Oh Lord, bring out the beauty that you have put in me and in each one of my precious sisters...for your joy and your calling and your splendor.
Be blessed today dear friends and continue to press on towards the beautiful display of God's splendor that awaits as you grow up strong and beautiful in Him.
Memorize this verse today:
"You will be a crown of splendor in the LORD's hand, a royal diadem in the hand of your God."
