Verse of the Day

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

~Philippians 4:6-7

Peace Unexplainable

"I don't know why God won't just take care of this for us!!" Those were the words I said to my husband concerning our home in Maryland. We had been dealing with our home for close to 3 years and I had reached what I will call a breaking point. I just wanted to be done with that piece of our past and move forward where God had planted us in Virginia.

The Lord began to deal with me in the midst of this situation and through this I found myself opening my hands to Him and allowing Him to work and move in the midst of something that was honestly tough for me on so many levels. This home was a symbol of something my husband and I had worked so hard for. We were married for 16 years before we were able to buy a home and then to have to sell it after being in it for less than a year...let's just say I had a hard time with that.

Anyways, I had to let go of all the emotions that were attached to the house and when I could do that he replaced it with His peace.

What are you holding on to?

Is it your past? Is it a relationship? Is it a deep hurt, sorrow, heartbreak? Friends, open your hands to God and ask Him to work and move in whatever it is and know that when we give him those heartaches He will fill us with His peace.

It is pretty tough carrying around our past, a hurtful relationship, sorrow or heartbreak. When we do that, it feels like there is constant turmoil going on. Am I right? Our verse today tells us that God gives us a peace that transcends all understanding.

Don't you want that?

Verse 6 tells us to be anxious about nothing. But, we have to give it to the Lord. When we turn those things over to the Lord, He gives us peace and that peace resonates and guards our hearts and minds against those anxious thoughts or in this case those things we are holding on to. I believe that when we turn over those things in our lives that cause us to be anxious, God removes them from us and replaces it with His peace. Oh how beautiful is that?

That's a pretty good deal!

Ladies, turn over those anxious things in your life that you are holding on to and allow God to fill you with HIS peace.

Memorize this verse today:

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
