"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."

Control

I don't like feeling as though I have no control over my life right now. Many people have written books, blogs or spoke on the feeling of having no control in their life.

I know, perhaps, that I will not share one thing with you today that will be new or earth shattering on the topic of control. That is not my goal. I guess today, I want to point you to someone I know who does control our future.

Even as I type that, I know some of you will be shaking your head and saying, "I know who holds tomorrow, it's God".

You would be right.

And I guess I could just end this blog now.

But I want to share with you today a part of my current journey. My prayer is that it will encourage you to cling to the one who holds your future and to truly trust Him in every area.

I am not a strong willed person. I have never been one to fight until I win to prove something. I have really trusted God throughout my life even in the midst of deep trials. I know many people who are strong willed and they will fight to gain control or keep control of a situation that otherwise would make them feel out of control. This has not been a huge issue in my life. I am not bragging when I say this. Please hear me. I am just laying some ground work for you to understand where I am coming from.

But even though I am not a strong willed person, as I type this today, I am struggling with some areas of my life where I am seeing that I have absolutely no control. And it brings tears to my eyes. Now, let me say I am very aware that I don't have control in any area of my life, but truth be told some areas of my life I don't hold on to all that much. In those areas I know what God has planned will be awesome and I can let go. The areas that I am currently struggling with are areas that will forever change my life in ways that are tough and I am learning they are areas that I have got to learn to trust God in. It is funny how you can grow up in the church, teach others the importance of fully trusting God, but when things start to feel a little out of control in areas that are close to the heart you begin to show signs of really not trusting God.

Friends, I am learning there are areas of our lives that we seem to hold back from God. We are comfortable giving him certain areas and allowing Him to work in the ways He desires, but when we face some serious areas and we come face to face with whether or not we are truly going to trust God, we see what the depth of our relationship with the Lord really is. I have stared that fact in the face the last couple of weeks and I am praying that I will whole heartedly trust God no matter what happens.

Let me add something here. I am not so sure that we consciously make the decision to hold areas of our lives back from God. We honestly think we have handed Him every area.

I do not know what you are facing today, but I believe that many of you are facing some serious situations that you thought if you ever faced them you would trust God no matter what, but instead you are finding that trusting is a bit harder than you thought. God knows what all of us are facing and he knows how everything will turn out. Allow this to bring you great comfort friends. He is in control no matter what you are facing. I know that God is walking this journey with me and what I am struggling with He will help me with. He will give me peace that only He can give and I will press on and learn to trust no matter what!

Memorize this verse today:

"Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
~Matthew 6:34
