Today's Devotional Thought

Speak Lord
Rachel's devotional from yesterday was on being blown away whenever God shows up and speaks. I want to spring board off of that for my devotional today.
I have been struck recently with how God chooses to speak to us. There are many ways we can hear God speak: through His Word, during our prayer time with Him, through music and many more ways. I think what has hit me very recently is how He orchestrates things in such a way to get our attention and in the process we stand there with our mouth hanging open with tears in our eyes, knowing that in that moment God has reached down with such love and tenderness and spoken to us.
Have you had that experience?
There are some of us out there who God needs to do something big to get our attention. Now the reason for that could be that we are just stubborn and like things the way they are so we are not really listening. Maybe we are praying, but not really listening...make sense? We want God to answer and we want God to speak, but only if it is in a way that we like.
Anybody willing to agree with that statement?
Oh sweet friends, I am smiling because God and I have been having quite the conversations recently about some things in my life. And I have been praying, but I am not so sure I have been doing all that much listening. God sure does have a way of getting our attention (and He has gotten mine)!
And you know what that says to me?
It tells me that He loves me and wants the VERY best for me. And the cool part is he knows what that is better than I do. He does not want me to stay in a life that is less than abundant. He wants me to have the good life.
Sometimes God has to do something big to get our attention and to make us realize that life lived with Him in obedience and in willingness, in faith and trust and in believing, is the good life. A life that is beyond anything we could have ever imagined.
So friends, today I am praying for you, praying that you will listen and hear God's voice. His voice is the sweetest sound we can ever hear as His children. It brings direction, guidance, discipline (in love), and comfort. He truly desires to give you an abundant life!!
