Is Your World Better?
As we have mentioned before, we are currently doing Beth Moore's James Bible Study with the ladies of our church. It is a fantastic study that I highly recommend. As we have really studied the book of James, we have seen how practical and also deeply theological the book is. And James' main purpose in writing is to motivate others to really live their faith.
Consistent with the book of James, a real faith is a lived faith. And a real faith can be seen and it changes the lives of those around you.
At the beginning of one of the video sessions, Beth asks her audience this question: How is your world better because you believe in Jesus?
How is your family better because you believe in Jesus?
How is your workplace better because you believe in Jesus?
How is your church better because you believe in Jesus?
How is your kid's sports team or your social organization better because you believe in Jesus?
As James repeatedly shows us, your faith in Jesus is meant to produce fruit. It is meant to change your behaviors. It is meant to make you more giving, more merciful, more loving, and more Christ-like. Your faith in Jesus is meant to change the world.
Your world should be better because you believe in Jesus because your behaviors should be better as a Christ follower than if you weren't a follower of Christ.
Is it?
Is your world better because you believe in Jesus?
Today, I encourage you to notice ways that you can make your world a better place because you believe in and follow the principles of Jesus. And, as James asserts, live your faith out loud for all to see.
