It is Good to Give Thanks to the Lord
Thanksgiving is only 16 days away, hard to believe! I have been watching on Facebook as many are making their statuses what they are thankful for each day. They are the ones you would think: I am thankful for my husband, parents, children.
It hit me that many people wait until November to really start thinking about the ways the Lord has blessed them. They seem to become more aware of all that they are thankful for this time of year.
In my Bible, the theme for Psalm 92 is to be thankful and faithful every day. This psalm was to be used in Temple services on the Sabbath.
Why is it that we many times fail to bring thankfulness into our daily worship?
Gratitude should be on our lips daily if we are believers. We have been saved from eternal damnation. We have a Savior who came to this earth, lived a sinless life, died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, rose again and is waiting to come back to get us so that we can live forever with Him in Heaven. Those are just a few things to be eternally grateful for.
I live a life where daily I hear of the struggles people are facing. I know that life is tough and there are days when thankfulness may not be on our lips. One thing I have learned is that it does me good to keep my focus on Jesus and not on my circumstances. If I can focus on all that He has done for me, the biggest being my salvation, then my mouth will be filled with praise and thanksgiving.
Spend time today just writing down 5 things that you are thankful for. If you have more, then by all means, write down more. In spite of the struggles we may be facing in our life, there truly are many things around us that we can be grateful for.
