When I Look Into Your Holiness
Having looked at worship over the last few days, I have come to the conclusion that worship is a way of life. The way that we choose to live is our worship to God. This past week in our choir practice at church, the following praise chorus was chosen to open the service. Now, because Rachel and I have been talking about worship in our devotions, it caught my attention and I want to share it with you today.
When I Look into Your Holiness
When I look into Your holiness,
When I gaze into Your loveliness,
When all things that surround become shadows in the light of You;
When I’ve found the joy of reaching Your heart,
When my will becomes enthralled in Your love,
When all things that surround become shadows in the light of You,
I worship You; I worship You.
The reason I live is to worship You.
I worship You; I worship You.
The reason I live is to worship You.
There are so many lines in this song that are so powerful when you think of worshipping God. Let’s examine some of these lines today and how they show us what worship is.
“When all things that surround become shadows in the light of You??? reminds us that everything in our lives must take 2nd place and God must be in 1st place. There are so many things that cry out for our attention and not all of them are bad. But, what we must realize is that all of our attention must be on Jesus Christ. When we make the decision that Jesus Christ has first place in our lives and, in turn live it out, we have then displayed a real act of worship.
“When I’ve found the joy of reaching Your heart.??? How do we reach the heart of God? I believe that we reach God’s heart by seeking and praying. When we seek God out in His word to know Him more, we will find Him. And, there is truly no greater joy than knowing God and walking with Him. When we have reached God’s heart and seek out our purpose and His plan for our lives, the joy that we discover is really unexplainable. The key though is REALLY seeking and praying. God will answer you. But you have to be seeking and then being still to listen and hear from Him.
“When my will becomes enthralled in Your love.??? When I think of this line, I think of being so in love with Jesus that all we want to do is serve Him and to live His plan and purpose for our life. I believe that God has a plan for all of us. We were designed to do certain things in this life. I pray that you have reached a point in your journey with Jesus that all you desire is to please Him, not to please people. I pray that you are seeking, praying, searching and loving Him and listening for what it is that He wants you to do. Because, what we do in this life is our way of worshipping Him.
“The reason I live it to worship you.??? I don’t think I need to say very much about this line. The reason that we are alive is to live for Him and worship Him in everything that we do.
I want to conclude today saying that worship takes so many different forms. We’ve talked about worshipping in our music and we’ve talked about where we can worship and then today we talked about how worship is a lifestyle. I think when it comes down to it, the most important thing is that we are living a life of worship. That we are worshipping through music and that we are worshipping wherever we are. That we are spending time in the Bible and learning about God and what He has done for us and the plans He has for us. I encourage you today to be drawing closer to Him, and to be worshipping Him with your life.
