My Story
When is the last time you shared your life story with someone else? Do you even know what you would say if someone asked you to tell them your story? Have you ever taken time to sit and think about your life story to this point?
You may be sitting here thinking that you don’t have much of a story to tell. Maybe you think nothing all that special has happened to you. Maybe you think you are too young to really have a strong yet. Maybe you think you have too many mistakes in your past to share it with others. Regardless of what you are thinking right now, you do have a story that has important experiences and pieces of your life to this point that can be used by God. And, similar to the recorded stories of Joseph, David, Ruth, Moses, Esther, Paul, Peter, and others in the Bible, your story can help someone else. Much like we consider our personalities and strengths to be unique components of ourselves given by God, our stories are also unique and God-given. And we must take time to really know our stories so we can share them with others.
I challenge you to really think about your life story and how God has worked in your life. Know the key people and events and decisions that you have made. Become mindful of the highlights and low points of your story. And reflect on the lessons that God has taught you throughout the good and bad times of your life.
It is so important that we all embrace the experiences that we have had as real, important, and empowering events that can be used by God. Your story is just that: yours. And, you should not be embarrassed, ashamed, or intimidated by your story. Instead, you have lived it. You should now focus on owning it and sharing it for the Lord.
Start thinking about your story today and ask God to show you the important aspects of it and how He can use it to help others. We all have a story and we all have an audience that needs to hear it. Pray for guidance on how you can use your story as a letter that shows Christ’s faithfulness and work in your life. It is your story. Live it. Own it. Share it.
