Today's Devotional Thought

Where Can I Go?
Are you afraid of letting people into your life? Why is it that so many of us are afraid to let people into our lives and to connect to them? If you are one of those people, then you are probably making a list of reasons in your head right now. Let me just mention one that I heard recently. You are afraid that people will discover something about you that they don’t like and you will be rejected and deeply hurt.
Psalm 139:1 tells us that God knows us. That verse reads, “O Lord, you have searched me and you know me.??? God knows everything about us and still loves us and He desires a relationship with us. Scripture tells us that He even knows the number of hairs on our head (Matthew 10:30). God truly is the one person who you can allow into your life and I promise you that He won’t hurt you. The verses we are looking at today show us how much God does love us. There is no where on this earth where we can go that He won’t be there when we get there. One of the first devotionals I wrote for After the Miracle was about how God is in our tomorrows. As Christians, in this life we experience God’s provision, his protection, love, grace and mercy daily. We may experience deep trials and pain and we may experience great joy and happiness. For us to grasp that no matter where we are in our life God is right there beside us, should bring us tremendous comfort and joy.
Think for a minute about something you’ve gone through that was very trying and painful. Did you feel God right there with you? If you didn’t at the time, can you look back and see God’s hand now? I am often times overcome with emotion when I look back and see God’s faithfulness. There is no place I can go or situation I can face that God doesn’t know about and that He won’t be there to help me through. Having Christ in our lives and knowing that He is always near should bring about encouragement, hope, and peace.
You may be facing a situation today that is leaving you feeling weary. Allow me to remind you that God is there for you. He knows you and loves you and if you allow him into your life and into your situation, I promise you that He won’t hurt you. He will provide you with a peace that passes all understanding and you will be able to face the hardships of life knowing that He is always there.
