Inviting God into Your Personality

You are fearfully and wonderfully made by the Lord (Psalm 139:14). And, you have been made unique from every other person who has ever lived in all of history. And this fact puts you in a very distinct position to use your personality to make an impact that only you can make. The question then becomes, how are you going to let your personality affect your behaviors? And, have you invited God into your personality?

There is nothing more fascinating than human personality. It is a topic that has intrigued scholars for thousands of years and numerous books and research studies exist to try to explain human personality. They all have varying perspectives on the definition of personality, the origin of personality, and the stability of personality. And, no single theory fully captures or explains all of the intricacies of human personality. But all theorists agree that we are all unique, with a very specific combination of traits.

You have been uniquely created by God. And, your personality makes you uniquely gifted to be used by God in very specific ways. Your personality also has very specific strengths and weaknesses. You must be mindful of the strengths and weaknesses of your personality and invite God to maximize the strengths and minimize the weaknesses in it. Inviting God into our personalities can transform our personalities into powerful tools for the Lord. And remember that God does not desire to change our personalities completely. God did not change Peter into John. God created Peter to be Peter and John to be John. And, God had a specific plan for Peter that only he could fulfill with his personality. God needed Peter’s boldness and his fire to spread the word of Jesus Christ and God needs your personality to spread the word of Jesus Christ in a way that only you can. We must all take ownership of our personalities, invite God to sharpen them, and take time to understand and help others as they accept and sharpen their own personalities. We are all uniquely created and uniquely gifted with specific traits that God can use fully if we invite Him to do so.

So, how can your personality be used by God? Invite Him into your personality today and ask Him to use you in the specific way that you were designed to be used.

Memorize this verse today:

"I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well."
~Psalm 139:14
