Hard Headed
I am pretty hard headed and determined. Maybe you can blame it on the red hair, but essentially, if I get a goal in my head, I seem to have a way of pushing myself (and those around me) to the point of getting whatever it is. "Just make it happen," is what we hear people say. And honestly, not too long ago, I would have said that was my motto.
But friends, I have to say, it is not my motto anymore. And, it is not my motto anymore for several reasons.
First, I have found that you cannot make things happen that go against God's will. Quite simply, if God does not want you to have a particular thing, it will not happen. And, just trying to make it happen, will frustrate you and those around you.
Second, if you try to just make things happen, you will get your heart broken. Trust me. God may even let you get part-way down the road to whatever it is that you want. But, if it is not his will, it will not happen. And you will be left disappointed and heart-broken.
Finally, walking through doors that God opens is so much easier than breaking down doors that you are trying to open. Quite simply, when it is God's will, it just happens. You just have to walk through the doors that God prepares, but you don't have to make it happen. God will make it happen and you just have to be obedient.
Oh friends, trust me when I say that is it so much better to follow God's direction than to forge out on your own and make your own dreams come true. My old motto was just make it happen.
But, my new one is just trust and obey!
