Show Appreciation

Yesterday was Mother’s Day and you probably took time to honor the women in your life who are mothers. It is a great day to celebrate all that mothers do as they care for their husbands, their children, their grandchildren, and their households.

How much time do you spend on a normal day honoring those in your life? Do you express your appreciation for others on a regular basis or do you just wait until a holiday to tell someone how you feel about them?

Recently, a man wrote a letter to his 8th grade teacher, a woman whom he adored and who had made a significant impact on his life. His classmates also adored her and they talked about her at every class reunion. And, one day, he took time to express his appreciation to her and you won’t believe the response he got. Click here to watch a quick video of her response.

As you reflect on your life, who do you appreciate? As you think of the people who have made an impact on you, think about ways that you can tell them that you appreciate them. Write them a letter, send them an email, drop by spontaneously and give them a hug. Tell someone today that they have made a profound impact on your life. You may assume that they know that they have, but this just might be the first time that they have ever heard that.

Tell someone today that you appreciate them and don’t wait for a holiday to honor the special people in your life.

Memorize this verse today:

"May the LORD repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge."
~Ruth 2:12
