Relationships
Think about all of the relationships in your life. Now, think about the best relationships in your life. What makes them special? What makes them thrive?
When you think about the best relationships in your life, it is likely that those are ones where you have deep love and commitment to each other. You likely value each other’s opinions and strive to live in a way that honors each other. You likely spend a lot of time together, either on the phone or face to face. You likely share all of your fears and dreams and joys and hurts. You likely go to them immediately when something good happens in your life or when tragedy strikes. And, you probably seek their advice on major decisions in your life.
The best relationships are those characterized by trust, love, commitment, communication, and actions. When we love someone, we strive to be in their life regularly and communicate often.
Is this how you would describe your relationship with the Lord? Do you share all of your fears and dreams and joys and hurts with God? Do you go to Him immediately when something good happens or when tragedy strikes? Do you seek His advice on major decisions in your life? Is your relationship with the Lord characterized by trust, love, commitment, communication, and actions?
I pray that it is. But, if your relationship with the Lord does not have these qualities of a good relationship, then I urge you to seek to build this type of relationship with Him. Talk to God daily through prayer. Seek His advice by sitting still and listening while you’re praying. Read His words to you through daily devotions and Bible reading. And trust His guidance when He speaks to you.
Good relationships require communication, trust, and commitment. Build a good relationship with the Lord today.
