Verse of the Day
"But after he had considered this an angel of he Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name of Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.'"

Today's Devotional Thought
December 24, 2010 by Wendy Foreman
Merry Christmas
It’s Christmas Eve and we will be celebrating the birth of our Savior tomorrow. Many of us will be out tonight at Christmas Eve services and we will sit, many of us for the first time amidst the craziness of the season, and take a deep breath and focus on the Christ child. Do you fully understand what his birth meant for you? We read in Matthew that Jesus was born to save his people from their sins. This statement is full of hope and of love. You see, Jesus has always been since the beginning of time. John 1:1 tells us “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.??? Jesus is the word and we see in the 1st chapter of John that Jesus was with God and was part of the creating of the world that we live in.
Jesus left his home in heaven and came down to live on this earth to teach and love and serve in such a way that it would bring others to a saving knowledge of God. He came as the Messiah, the Savior of the world. In coming to the earth, he knew he was sent to ultimately be the sinless lamb that would be sacrificed for our sins. If Jesus didn’t come to this earth and died, then friends, we would perish in a fiery hell. God loves us so much. John 3:16 tells us “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.??? Let that sink in for a minute. Do have someone in your life that you love so much that you would be willing to sacrifice your child for them?
God is the only one who ever loved us enough to send his to son to sacrifice him to cover our sins so that we can come before Him redeemed. Because of this act of love we are promised eternal life with Him in heaven. This Christmas, as you focus on the true meaning of the season, take time to thank God for sending his son to earth.
In closing, Rachel and I would like to thank all of our After the Miracle friends for reading our devotions and most of all we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas.
Memorize this verse today:
"But after he had considered this an angel of he Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, 'Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name of Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.'"
