Verse of the Day
"After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh."

Following the Star
Have you ever looked up at a night sky full of stars? Gazing at a dark sky full of white lights from east to west is simply spectacular. And, in the Christmas Story, we see that a prominent star signified to the Wise Men that Jesus had been born.
As can be seen in Matthew, the Star of Bethlehem appeared in the sky and inspired the Wise Men to travel from the East to Jerusalem to find the baby Jesus. When they arrived in Jerusalem, they asked King Herod where the King of the Jews had been born and were directed towards Bethlehem. Once traveling to Bethlehem, the star appeared again and directed them to the exact place that Jesus was. And once they arrived, they worshiped the Christ and presented Him with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
What have you been following this Christmas season? Have you paused to look up to the night sky to follow the Star of Bethlehem to the place that Jesus is so that you can worship Him? Or, have you been caught up following all of the Christmas shopping and parties and festivities? Have you been chasing the wrong pieces of Christmas? Or have you been chasing the King?
After Christmas, I always find that a calm settles all around me. My children calm down as they are no longer anticipating whether they’ll get everything they’ve asked for. My schedule calms down as the parties and shopping are done. And, my heart even calms down as I enjoy that week between Christmas and New Year’s with family, afternoon movies, and rest.
As you calm down after Christmas, take some time one evening this week and step outside and look up at the night sky. If there are stars above, then focus on them and how they led the Wise Men to Jesus after his birth many years ago. And, as you are gazing at the night sky, let your heart be calmed and led to Jesus. And, as the Wise Men did when they saw the star, rejoice exceedingly with great joy that Jesus Christ is born and that we can rest in him today.
Memorize this verse today:
"After hearing the king, they went their way; and the star, which they had seen in the east, went on before them until it came and stood over the place where the Child was.
When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.
After coming into the house they saw the Child with Mary His mother; and they fell to the ground and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they presented to Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh."
