Verse of the Day

"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope."

The Best New Year's Resolution

Today is New Year’s Eve and many of us will gather with friends and family to celebrate the coming of a new year. And as we ring in 2011, so many of us will also take time to reflect on those parts of our lives that we want to change. We want to lose weight. We want to pay off debt. We want to work on our relationships. We want to go back to school. We want to change our life path. We will all choose something to be our resolution to change this year.

What is your resolution this year?

Today, I want to share my resolution with you in hopes that you will join me in it. In 2011, I am joining Wendy Pope from Proverbs 31 Ministries as she leads a one-year reading through the Bible. It is an interesting approach to reading through the Bible because it is done with a chronological Bible. So, we will read through Scripture as it chronologically happened to get a fuller look at the events leading up to the birth of Christ and the events afterwards. I am really looking forward to this novel study and I would love for you to join me as I read through God’s word in 2011. You can get more information on her program at: http://wendypope.org/read-thru-the-word/

I have spent many New Year’s Eves planning to lose weight or exercise more or spend money more wisely. This year, however, I have decided to embark on a new resolution to grow closer to God by delving into His word daily through a chronological study of the Bible. I am excited and quite certain that this New Year’s resolution will result in more fulfillment than losing 15 pounds, paying off debt, or accomplishing some other goal.

Join me in 2011 in this chronological study of the Bible and experience the encouragement and hope that are found in His word. And make the most life changing New Year’s resolution you can make.

Memorize this verse today:

"For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope."
~Romans 15:4
