A New Thing
When will this ever end? How long will I continue to dwell on what happened to me? How long Lord? I am sure we all have asked these questions at some point in our lives and/or we have heard others ask them.
But, guess what? Isaiah 43 tells us to not ask these questions. In fact, when I read this scripture, I hear the Lord telling us to put those things behind us. Don’t dwell on them. Because God has amazing things for us.
In ministry, my husband and I see many people who have gone through discouraging things in their lives, things that are hard for them to put behind them and move forward to the new things that God has for them. As I listen to them, there is a real part of me that understands their desire to dwell because sometimes, letting go means letting go of a person or thing or situation that keeps them attached to a time period that they don’t want to forget. What I long for people to understand, though, is that when you let go of the former things and allow God to do a new thing in your life, it is amazing.
I know this because I went through something that was so difficult in my life. And, I felt that if I let go of it, then somehow, I was letting the other person win and saying that what they did was justified. But, what I found was that not letting go brought even more pain into my life than I can even explain. I allowed that situation to control my life and I was paralyzed. I had to recognize and decide that I had no choice but to let it go if I wanted to move forward in my life and allow God to do a new thing. And the day that I decided that, a journey began. And oh my, what a journey it is.
Ladies, memorize Isaiah 43:18-19 today. It is time to let go of the former things and allow God to do a new thing. Begin a new journey with Him.
