Treasure & Ponder

Have you ever had anything happen to you that you really have no words to fully describe? Something that is so unbelievable, either good or bad, that even if you had the words, other people wouldn’t fully understand?

I can imagine that is how Mary must have felt as she carried and delivered her first born son, Jesus. Imagine for a second what it must have been like to be an unmarried teenaged girl who just gave birth to the Son of God. Imagine that. I mean, really imagine that.

Imagine holding Jesus in the wee hours of the night, just gazing at Him like all new mothers do. Imagine looking at Him and feeling so honored and yet, so inadequate to be the mother of God. Imagine being so grateful that Joseph decided to stay with her and not do what tradition and laws would have allowed him to do. Imagine wondering why God chose you out of all of the women in the history of the world to be the mother of the Savior. Imagine that.

I can see why, as everyone else was spreading the word of the birth of the Savior, that Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

Memorize this verse today:

"But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart."
~Luke 2:19
