Today's Devotional Thought

Change the World
I am still on a holy high from last weekend’s She Speaks conference. While I have settled back into my daily routine and am not nearly making the progress on my next project that I’d like to, I am still so excited about everything I heard last week and what lies ahead. Both Wendy and I heard God speaking very clearly about some new projects and I look forward to seeing them unfold.
As I was reflecting on everything this week, I heard the following quote: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world.??? I smiled when I heard that line and I couldn’t help but think of my sweet sisters at Proverbs 31 Ministries. You see, they are not some multi-million dollar Christian enterprise. They work out of their homes and a very small office in the Charlotte area. They have very little paid staff. And they are very simply a group of committed women who have followed God in radical obedience and have seen his blessings on their ministry. They really are a small group of thoughtful, committed people and they truly are changing the world.
As I reflected more on this quote, I couldn’t help but think of another (slightly older) small group of thoughtful, committed people who changed the world. And that group is the first century church, directed by Peter and Paul. I just love the Book of Acts where you see this small group of thoughtful, committed people beginning to step out to fulfill their true callings. And no one, stepped out and stepped up more notably than Peter did. I just love the transformation you see in this man. Going from a reckless, impetuous, disciple of Christ to an intentional, bold, committed follower of Christ and leader of the Church. And that 1st Century small group of thoughtful, committed people truly changed the world.
Has God placed a dream on your heart? Has he given you a plan or goal he would like you to accomplish? If he has, then I urge you to be thoughtful and committed. And regardless of how large you think the task in front of you is, I urge you to remember this quote and never doubt that you can change the world. Because, as my favorite verse in Ephesians says, “God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams!??? (Ephesians 3:20).
Believe it my friends. And then pursue it thoughtfully, prayerfully, and with bold commitment.
