He Helps God
On Friday, I took my niece to Chic-fil-A to pick up lunch for all of the kids who were enjoying some pool time at my mother in law's house. My niece is 4 years old and I have enjoyed many sweet conversations with her. And we had another one while the two of us were driving to get lunch.
As we were driving, she started to talk about her uncle (my brother-in-law) and how she has seen him working. He drives a big flatbed truck and picks up stranded cars and motorists all over central Virginia. And many times, she has seen him on the Interstate helping stranded travelers.
So, as we were talking, she asked me if I had ever seen Uncle Mike on the highway. I said that I had not and then she asked me if I knew what he did for a job. While I did know what his job was, I returned her question by asking her to tell me. And my sweet, 4-year old niece said, "He helps God. When people need help, he helps God."
He helps God.
When I heard her words, my heart smiled and I said back to her, "Yes honey, you are absolutely correct. He does help God."
Our conversation quickly turned to something else, but my heart and mind stayed on her sweet comment. He helps God.
Oh how I wish we all looked at our jobs and how we interact with others as helping God. You see, my niece is right. Whatever we do, when we do it for others, we are helping God. We are helping God by serving and loving others. And everything we do, we should approach with the mentality that our actions can be showing others that we care and that God cares about them.
It was such a precious conversation and such a remarkable reminder of how we should approach everything that we do as God's work. And everything we do can show others that God cares about them.
My brother in law does help God, everyday he goes to work. And so do you. Enjoy helping God today, sweet friends.
