Hold Their Hands Up
Do you ever feel tired and weary?
In this verse, Moses is holding his hands up while Joshua and his men are in a battle with their enemies and as long as Moses holds his hands up they are victorious. But if he puts his hands down, they begin to lose. These men, Aaron and Hur, come alongside Moses in his tired state and help him. They become an encouragement to him, they help him by what I like to call standing in the gap.
Do you have someone like that in your life?
The truth is friends, that this life is tough. We will find ourselves and those we love in a battle at some time or another. We will have those around us who grow weary and that is when we must, as sisters in Christ, come alongside them and hold their arms up. We must pray for them, encouragement them, and speak truth to them from God's Word. Let's face it, this world is a cruel place and yes we must live here, but like Rachel said in her devotional on Tuesday, this world is not our permanent home, we are looking forward to our home yet to come (Hebrews 13:14).
If you are in a battle right now I am praying that God gives you someone who will stand in the gap for you, someone who will stand alongside you and hold your hands up while the battle is fierce around you. If you have someone like that, then thank God for them and tell them thank you. There is nothing more precious than walking this journey with someone who gets it.
